My name is Lou Hall. I have two grown sons, Brian & Lou Jr. whom both live on Martha’s Vineyard. The Vineyard was home for me briefly too, but I’ve always preferred the mountains, and was never able to get comfortable confined to a tiny island. The sea is heaven for lots of people, but I’ll take the great wide-open any day. I've been living in the woods, off the grid, on the NY / VT border for the last 16 years where I make all my own electricity with solar panels and a propane generator. The house is about a half mile from the nearest town maintained road, and about the only man-made sounds I hear throughout the day come from an occasional plane passing overhead, or a train whistle in the distance. On most days, the mountain and valley views from my deck are nothing short of exhilarating, and my cameras always get a good workout.
